You Are Not Alone..

Many times when people revert to Islam, they have moments where they feel as if they are alone - they've lost the comfort and support of family and friends, and the weak efforts of born Muslims to fill this void is not enough.

This issue will be one of the first issues I address in my new video series called "SpiritualGPS" (coming soon).

  • In the meantime, I've created the Revertropolis "Reverts Hall of Fame" to serve as a reminder to new Muslims everywhere that: You are NEVER alone. God, with His Guidance and Mercy has brought you this far. He will never abandon you. And the success of the reverts in this 'hall of fame' are proof of that. Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Baba Ali, Imam Zaid Shakir, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Yusuf Islam, Ingrid Mattson, Yvonne Ridley, Imam Suhaib Webb, Shaykh Yusuf Estes...the list of people who reverted to Islam and who have successfully risen to the top in terms of the Muslim social and intellectual spheres are proof that being born Muslim is in no way an advantage that others have over you as a new Muslim. Alas, many of the Companions of the Prophet themselves were reverts to Islam, and they were and are considered the Best Muslims (the best humans, even) of all time.

In short, don't feel alone. Use the examples of these amazing reverts to Islam to charge forward in your own learning/practice of your new way of life.

And don't forget to check out the Revertropolis Facebook page!

Embracing Islam - Part 1

The first part - make sure to go to this survey afterward and let me know what you think!

A Guide for New Muslims, or a Guide for Born Muslims?

We all know there's a deficit present in revert support worldwide, but what exactly would we do if we could fix it?

What would you do?

Whether you're a new Muslim or a born Muslim, check out this video and then make a comment (either on this blog or on Facebook) letting me know what your take on the matter is.

Revertropolis - The Journey Begins!

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

It's taken a long time for me to get things going with New Muslim support, but Alhamdulillah (all Praises be to God), I've finally taken the first step.

I've got some exciting plans for Revertropolis, short-term and long-term (yes, I'm a dreamer).
  • In the short-term, I intend to send out useful presentations, such as the first one - "Embracing Islam" - a presentation which you will receive when you SIGN UP on the right---->
  • I also plan on sending out emails highlighting useful materials and resources available both online and in the 'real' world that will inshaAllah (God-Willing) be helpful to any New Muslims out there who are searching but having difficulty finding these things.
  • With the Mercy of Allah (God), I'm also going to work on hosting webinars with famous Muslim reverts, to provide an opportunity for New Muslims to learn from their experiences and hopefully receive valuable advice from them.
I DO need feedback, as the trailer stated, so after you receive the 'Embracing Islam' presentation, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO FILL OUT THE SURVEY (it's not too long, I promise)

I Pray to Allah Almighty that He Bestows the necessary Knowledge, Wisdom, Patience, and Time Management Skills I will need to make this effort, Revertropolis, the HUGE SUCCESS that I AIM for it to be. Ameen (Amen).

Tuesday

Every one of us has been charged with Leadership

In an effort to find some way to get to Al-Firdaws, to be in the company of the great leaders of the past, and to, of course, be as close to Allah (swt) as possible, all of my work related to community organizing thus far has been toward one purpose:

**To create an environment in our communities that will allow Muslims to EXCEL at, well… being Muslim; at being all that a Muslim should be.**

It is my hope that this goal, vague though it may seem, will unify all of my future efforts, so that I don’t fall into the infamous trap of Brand Extension, a concept I finally learned officially in the NicheHero Leadership seminar by Shaikh Muhammad Alshareef.

I say “officially” because I’ve witnessed this phenomenon happen in Muslim communities, in which the leaders try to take on everything, and thus spread themselves thin and end up accomplishing very little.

I’ve even fallen into the trap myself, being more of the visionary type. Sometimes it seems I’ve got ideas and plans for everything, from revert support and youth programs, to Da’wah efforts and community business networking.

Of course, one person can’t take on all of these fields. But it is my hope, inshaAllah, that with the right approach, I can still have a part in benefiting multiple sectors of Muslim community needs, while still focusing on one goal.

So with this inshaAllah, I charge forward into action, with the following hadith, engraved on NicheHero souls by Sh. Muhammad, in mind:

“Each one of you is a shepherd. And each one of you will be asked about your flock…”
